Sarah first became involved in my support on 11th June 2024. She was referred to me by my CPN, Frankie.
I had maintained 15 years of continuous sobriety, so experiencing three relapses this year was devastating for me. Sarah has been seeing me almost every week since then, and she is incredibly easy to talk to. I feel comfortable sharing my thoughts and feelings with her.
My last relapse was particularly severe. I experienced several falls, both inside and outside my home, causing injuries that really needed hospital treatment. Sarah quickly took action and got Inspire, Lancashire County Council (LCC), and Telecare involved. She was incredibly efficient.
Sarah arranged for my GP to visit, and between them, they persuaded me to go to the hospital. She even made arrangements for Indi, my dog, to be cared for while I was away for five days. That support made all the difference to me.
I stopped drinking on 23rd August, and Sarah has continued to support me ever since. Through LCC, I was assigned a social worker who organised carers and also helped find a dog walker for Indi. I no longer need either service, but the help at the time was invaluable.
Sarah has continued to visit me weekly since I got sober, and we get along well. She makes me feel comfortable and tells me she’s proud of me, which means so much.
For me, I find Red Rose Recovery to be far better than AA. I feel more confident having one-to-one support, and it’s been particularly helpful for my mental health. Having someone to talk to about everything has made such a difference in my recovery journey.
I really appreciate everything Sarah has done—and continues to do—for me.
