I wanted to write this from a service user’s perspective so that you know just how much Emily has done for us all.

Emily is intuitive, empathetic, supportive and caring.

Although she wasn’t my case worker she, and Orla set up a support group for people who are living with Long Covid, and this has been a massive support for all of us, and has played a huge part in our personal recovery.

Watching Emily run the group is really impressive, it’s not anything showy, but she is constantly ensuring that everyone is ok, making sure everyone gets a chance to speak, and she checks in with people in a quiet, gentle way that doesn’t draw attention to what she is doing.

When Orla left for Australia, Emily had the task of not only continuing the group, but she took on some of Orla’s clients, AND had the task of interviewing and training Orla’s two replacements, all of this was on top of her own large caseload.

That is a lot of responsibility for someone so young, keeping in mind that this is a very new condition that the world is only just starting to understand.

Emily is definitely a swan, she is calm and relaxed, and if she has been paddling furiously underneath, none of us ever knew it!

Emily is a wonderful young woman, she is wise beyond her years, and our loss of her is definitely someone else’s gain. She is without doubt an asset and a fantastic ambassador for whomever she works for.

Her legacy at Red Rose Recovery is that, apart from the support she has given to individuals, is that she has created a strong friendship group who will carry on supporting and helping each other through this difficult time in our lives.

I wish Emily all the luck in the world and I am grateful for having had the chance to get to know her.
