Veteran Support
At Red Rose Recovery, we are proud to offer a dedicated Veteran Support program, tailored specifically to assist veterans who may be facing challenges related to substance misuse and other associated difficulties. Our holistic approach recognises that these issues rarely exist in isolation. We provide comprehensive support that addresses the wider needs of each individual, whether it be mental health, housing, or connecting with specialised services. Our mission is to empower veterans on their recovery journey, helping them regain stability and independence.
As a lived-experience organisation, Red Rose Recovery ensures that our veteran support is grounded in real-life understanding and empathy. Our lived experienced staff members, whom are veterans themselves, incorporate their personal experience of overcoming addiction. Their deep understanding of the unique challenges veterans face enables them to establish strong, trusting relationships with their clients, helping to deliver positive outcomes. They offer outreach services, meeting veterans where they are, in the community, and provide personalised, face-to-face support.
Referrals to our Veteran Support program are open to anyone, whether that be other professionals or the veterans themselves. We’ve made our services easily accessible, with veterans able to refer through our website, visit our hubs in Preston or Lancaster, or simply by contacting our team directly. This flexibility ensures that veterans can connect with us in a way that suits them best, allowing us to begin supporting them as soon as possible.
In addition to our in-house services, we recognise the importance of collaboration and work closely with other trusted veteran organisations such as Healthier Heroes, First Light Trust, and local football community trusts. These partnerships enable us to provide a full spectrum of support, from addiction recovery to housing and peer connections, ensuring that each veteran receives the specific assistance they need to rebuild their lives.
Our key components of support include outreach, basic needs assistance, and medical and mental health services, with a particular focus on substance misuse support. We work with partners such as Inspire/Spark to offer detox and rehabilitation options and implement harm reduction strategies for those at different stages of recovery. Through these partnerships, we ensure that veterans have access to the best possible resources to support their recovery and long-term wellbeing.
We are also committed to providing veteran-specific outreach, ensuring that no veteran is left behind. By working with organisations like the Veterans UK and the Royal British Legion, and engaging in peer support initiatives, we foster a sense of community and shared experience. This helps veterans feel understood and supported by others who have faced similar challenges.
At Red Rose Recovery, we believe in long-term, sustained support. We develop personalised support plans for each veteran, ensuring that their needs are continually assessed and met. Our case management team provides ongoing follow-ups, adjusting the support as necessary to ensure each veteran progresses toward their recovery goals.
In moments of crisis, we act swiftly to offer immediate assistance, collaborating with emergency services and mental health crisis teams to ensure veterans are safe. While our working hours are 9-5, we refer urgent cases to 24-hour crisis services, picking up follow-up support where needed. This wraparound approach guarantees that veterans never feel isolated in their most challenging moments.
By combining lived experience, comprehensive veteran support, and collaborative partnerships, Red Rose Recovery stands as a trusted ally for veterans seeking to overcome the challenges of substance misuse and regain control of their lives. Whether through direct referrals or our partnerships with organisations like NHS Trusts, Lancashire Armed Forces Covenant, and local authorities, we are here to provide the support veterans need, when and where they need it.
